BOOK OF NEHEMIAH IS A NARRATIVE HISTORY  

AUTHORED BY:     NEHEMIAH (& EZRA)  430 BC


MAIN CHARACTERS:    Nehemiah, Ezra, Sanballat, and Tobiah

 

FACT:  The book of Nehemiah was originally combined with the book of Ezra until the early Christian era.


SETTING:         IS  445 BC IN BOTH PERSIA / JERUSALEM

Jerusalem had a temple but there was no protection for the city from further attack. Nehemiah travels to Jerusalem and uses his leadership skill to rally a citywide construction crew. Within a few weeks, the walls around Jerusalem were built and standing tall and their enemies lost their confidence.

IMPORTANCE OF A CUPBEARER-  

Most trusted position.  Cupbearer makes sure that no one poisons the king.
